I have a book prepared for publication in Word In the book there are hundreds of people listed by name. The names are in the format John B Doe, Mary Doe, Sam Smith etc. I would like to prepare an index for the book that presents the index as: Doe, John B. Book is a surname.

Family Crest Image (JPG) Heritage Series - DPI The roots of the Book surname reach back to the language of the Viking settlers who populated the rugged shores of Scotland in the Medieval era. The Book surname comes from someone having lived in a place noted for the presence of a ridge that formed a boundary between two distinct areas.

This is a very technical book and it is exactly what the extension name says - a guide to family name research in the 21st century. It reviews past research into family names and tells you how to extend that research and gives on-line tools for doing so. It is not a book about the origins or distributions of family names.

Introduction and Caveats: This history is a small book in two volumes, the last of which was never finished. There are a total of 1, pages in it, but since two of its pages could fit on an /2” by 11” sheet of paper, you could also say that there are letter-sized pages in the history.
